The Poser Geek
You answered 59% of the questions as a geek truly would. |
As a poser geek, you're trying too damned hard. There's a strong possibility that you think you're a geek because you own your own computer, however you're truly missing the bigger picture. You aspirations of being a geek mainly come from your friends, who are probably slightly cooler.
Get rid of those thick black-rimmed glasses. Being a geek isn't about style, it's about substance!
So what's this all mean? It means you're probably a pretty cool person. You've probably got social graces and are well liked by many people. While not a complete conformist, you do prefer to follow along with popular culture. True geeks probably laugh at you behind your back.
In a nutshell, you answered most question how you thought a geek WOULD answer, but your misconceptions deceived you. Truth is, 60% of people are geekier than you.

| new digs: santa ana
so i've moved in to a house in santa ana. it's a nice place, a really big house with lots of rooms and lots of guys living here. i have my own room; it's a good one, but of course i'm still getting used to it. most of my stuff is moved in; i'm still trying to figure out what should go where. all in all, it's clean and quiet, and i'm looking forward to getting used to a whole new atmosphere.
on the workfront, i'm all set with a tutoring agency, and my first client is a 9th grader who needs help with geometry and test prep. that goes down next week tuesday. i've also got some interviews set up for the next couple days so we'll see if anything bears fruit. if not, it'll be probably be back to temping next week.
until then, it'll be more settling in, and of course a pendleton concert this weekend.
i hope i won't be too lonely...being here alone in a "space" all my own reminds me a little of my first nights at simmons...a little bit in limbo: not quite here and not quite there, too tired to DO anything but not so tired yet as to sleep easy in a new place. i remember what i would think then, as i settled down for the end of the day: guess there's nothing left but to hit the hay, and when the sun rises it'll be another day.
of course i didn't really rhyme back then. that's just me musing for tonight.
ps. saw episode iii tonight of course. the 7pm showing at downtown disney. i know, not a digital projection, but it was still a good theater, a not so huge yet enthusiastic crowd, and i enjoyed the movie immensely. i find it very appropriate that in my inbox today i received my star wars update email and it says "the circle is complete" because i definitely felt a sense of closure during the entire movie, as all those "how?" questions were answered. and naturally, for the star wars geek in me, there were all those little jabs and foreshadowing from the other films. true, a little cheesy but they're the little things that just make you smirk and chuckle. the first one that comes to mind: "how uncivilized!" - obi-wan, upon using general grievous' blaster against him
anyone care to explain the significance of that one for bonus points? (to steal adam's point thingie) | | |
